My kids were gifted a different magic set with very complicated tricks. They quickly became disinterested and discouraged. This Melissa and Doug set is very straightforward and the tricks are easy to pull off. My kids were 5-9 when they were given this and they all enjoyed it!
Does your 5yo want to be a magician? They can with this. Simple tricks that can be learned by a young child. Tricky enough to fool an adult if performed well. I ran my son through the tricks a few times very carefully, taught him the little showmanship tricks to hide his work… and then he dazzled his mom (and not even the courtesy cheers, she really was amazed!).
