You can build this so that the inner wall is closer to the door, providing an antechamber that can reduce litter debris on your floor. Or you can put that inner wall nearer the closed side, creating a storage space for litter packages, scoops, etc.
My kittens get a bit enthusiastic with their scratching (or perhaps I should say scooping) and often throw litter all over inside, so the antechamber can help keep that inside. Whenever I open the cabinet to scoop the box, I can easily sweep in loose litter and add it back into the box.”
