I purchased this fountain for my cat about six months ago. We had been using the Catit brand fountain with the flower-shaped spout on the top. I like this fountain much more. It takes much less time and is less difficult to clean (how I dreaded cleaning the Catit fountain every weekend!), and the filter does a great job of keeping the water fresh. Each time I clean this I am impressed at how clear the remaining water still is — no cloudiness, no slime, and no odor. Very easy to maintain. And I’ve figured out that while the Catit replacement filters cost less per unit, these filters last much longer so they save money in the long run. Single-fill bowls, no more! I was so very sick of scrubbing out & refilling my pup’s water bowl on the regular that I decided it was time to try something new. The price on this setup was really decent so I figured “Why not?” and gave it a go. I am so glad that I did!!! This fountain is unlike others that I have seen in the sense that it is designed very differently, with two levels of water trickling and multiple filters throughout.
I enjoy that the filter is attached to the exterior of the water bowl vs. submerged in the water; less potential for breakage & any sort of contamination, more space for water, and much easier to change out. The clean water that your pet drinks comes directly from the stream of the filter itself, which means extra clean and tasty water for the pooch (or kitty)!
It has been super easy to take apart and reassemble during cleanings, and I find that I am refilling it much MUCH less often than our stainless steel bowls – they are forever a thing of the past now.
