The new school year is here! Help out a teacher and donate supplies to schools.✏️📚

Did you know that teachers often pay for classroom supplies out of their own pocket? One survey found that teachers spent over $800 in out-of-pocket expenses in 2022! 😲 Is that really a responsibility that should fall on a teacher’s plate?

If you have a child in school, one way to ensure they have the supplies that they need in the classroom is to donate them yourself. If you want to offer free teacher supplies or donate to teachers, it’s fairly easy and you can do so through some of your favorite stores like Target and Walmart.

To help you out, we compiled a list of popular teacher donation sites where you can adopt a classroom, donate supplies, or even provide funds for teachers! If you happen to also be a teacher, here are a few ways you can ask for what you need!

Here’s how to donate to schools…

1. Walmart has several options, including buying supplies from a classroom registry.

Walmart now has a Classroom Registry feature which can be accessed on their website and on their app. Teachers can use these registries to shop or share their individual classroom wish lists. Finding a classroom registry is easy! Simply search Walmart’s registry page by the teacher’s last name and state.

Another new Walmart feature is the Spark Good Registry and Round Up. This registry doesn’t just benefit one classroom, it benefits the entire school. Donations are tax-deductible and you can donate to schools year-round. Either donate your change at checkout or purchase items from the school’s registry.

You can also use Walmart’s School Supply List to find out what your school district or teacher needs for the upcoming school year. To see a list for your area, type in your zip code, school, grade, and teacher. From here, you can easily add school supplies right to your cart!

Target offers customers the ability to create a Community Registry for various causes. One of them is for a school drive. If you want to donate to teachers, search these registries to see if your school is on the list.

If you’re an educator, use this feature to create a registry for the items you need!

One of the easiest ways to help a teacher get their classroom necessities is to buy from Amazon. Teachers and educators can Create A List on Amazon of all the items they need for their classroom. They can then share this list publicly so parents and community members can donate the needed items. If a teacher you know has shared their list, head on over to Amazon and help them clear it!

Don’t forget to follow our Facebook page where each day we are sharing lists from a different state!

4. Donate supplies to schools through the SupplyATeacher.org program.

The SupplyATeacher.org program is one of the more popular teacher donation sites. Here you can contribute to a fund for teachers, a fund for a school, or a fund for a district. There are currently over 24,000 classrooms that are hoping for a donation.

Classrooms are looking to raise around $250. When the goal is achieved, the recipient receives two large boxes filled with essential school supplies. When browsing the fundraising campaigns, you’ll also see helpful information like how much has already been raised and what percentage of the classroom is part of the National School Lunch Program.

If you’d like to donate to teachers (or you’re a teacher in need), this is one of the best sites to use!

This organization allows teachers to create campaigns in order to fundraise for school supplies or for specific projects, like building a classroom library. Visit the website to search campaigns in your area.
