I got this for my 6-year-old. She really liked it! Plan ahead to set up the mixture the day before you plan on doing this activity as it needs a day to rest before they use it. My 6-year-old was able to make the design and put the paper in to transfer the ink on it. I helped her pull the wet paper out to dry. It really does create a neat picture on it.
We loved this! I got this for my 9yo daughter. We knew it took 24 hrs for the base water to set so there was no disappointment there. Watching videos of people using the product so we could be ready to go once the water was “ready”. We were shocked at how well they turned out! She loved trying different designs and was so proud to see how well they turned out. We did them as gifts and now she wants them all!
It takes 24 hours because the carrageenan powder must fully dissolve in boiling water (nuke it for 3 minutes). Side note: don’t use the tiny measuring spoon to stir the powder into the boiling water- it melts! That was the only drawback to this kit. There’s plenty of powder and enough paint to do it again. Resume paper was a great substitute for the included paper because of it’s weight and texture.
Knowing beforehand what we were getting into allowed us to be prepared and know what we were doing. I would definitely buy this again!
